CD Crazy

I am back in Ipswich at the moment and one of the best things about Ipswich is their is a couple of fantastic second hand CD shops

Cash converters
Fat Bobs

I don't think its actually called fat bobs but its what I call it. Cash converters came up with the goods today. I had brought 3 albums

Beatles white album £4.99
PJ Harvey £2.99
James Brown £2.99

the woman then told me that it was five albums for a tenner and I would be saving a quid if I brought two more albums, get in.

So I brought

Janes Addiction - Strays and the White stipes - elephant.

I also saw some decent stuff in the sales at Virgin and HMV but I thought I had enough albums to listen to and if you buy too many albums at once you don't give them all a fair listening too.

I will blog you the results of listening to the albums when I have got round to listening to them all

I'm off to the mother land today. Back to Ipswich for a nice long break.

My mother has recently been asking me about blogs, which is funny because I have just started a blog and I said i would show her what to do.

So in the future expect a link to my mothers blog

i am only really writing this to show her how easy it is

This site is going to contain bits about films, music, TV, radio, podcasts, books

what ever piece of culture I have consumed recently I shall pop it up here for the web to feed on

obviously you can tell I am just writing this to add a post.

I shall post that I have been recently listening to the Dexy's Midnight runners and the Clash. Oh oh I have also been listening to the Gang of Four and the Wire.

The Gang of fours Entertainment album is brilliant. I brought The wires singles album and that to is very good. They are a punky type band with good repetition in their music.

Cocteau Twins

I thought I would talik about the Cocteau twins. I find their music brilliant and although i am sad that they have split up the benefit of this is there music is now as cheap as chips.

This blog will mainly be me talking about music released a while ago because I am always on the hunt for a band that have been and gone but were briliant in their day. The reason for this is that there music is now sold at a bargain price on Amazon second hand or new. I think this is one of the major benefits of the ipods and mp3 players alot of people are buying albums and then selling them again once they have downloaded them.

I use to think I would never sell any cd's once i had brought them but these days I am glad to get rid of the ones I don't think are very good and getting cash for them so I can buy more. I still have too many cd's of course but one step at a time.

back to the cocteau twins, there music is fantastic ambient songs but with a more vocal and live presence than many ambient bands (orb, chemical brothers, FSOL, orbital etc). I think this is because the sounds are mainly created using guitars and lots of effects and the singing is live, although in a style which is very original a bit like bjork in some ways but more beautiful shall we say.
